Module One: What is Cultural Competence and Why is it important to Healthcare?

  1. Presentation of data on subscriber compliance, length and level of treatment, racial and ethnicdisparities in healthcare
  2. Case studies or examples of cultural incompetence and impact on subscriber care
  3. Examples of cultural competence and positive impact on subscriber care (video of Kaiser Permanente, etc.)


Module Two: Introduction to the Origins of Culture

Module Three: Cultural Competence - Self Assessment

Module Four: Practitioner Cultural Competence – Best Practices 

  1. Pachter’s model of culturally competent questions for ascertaining subscribers’ cultural norms about health, illness, healing
